Georgios Charalambous (Chairman)

Georgios Charalambous has been a key figure in the Cyprus financial sector for many years, first as Senior General Manager of the Bank of Cyprus and more recently as Chairman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. A graduate of the London School of Economics and the Athens School of Economics, he has also held positions at several other institutions including the Central Bank of Cyprus and the Cyprus Development Bank.

Georgios Charalambous, in his capacity as Chairman, has responsibility for all risk management and compliance functions of the Fund, overseeing adherence to the Fund’s risk management policy and ensuring compliance with all regulatory and know-your-customer requirements. Georgios Charalambous has significant experience in managed funds compliance and regulation having served as Chairman of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission during 2006-2011.

Charis Charalambous (Deputy Chairman & Fund Manager)

Charis Charalambous, the fund manager, has been managing the Active Banking Fund since its launch in July 2012. Charis has extensive experience in analysing banks financials statements and risks and in European banking M&A transactions.

Between 2004-2010 he worked for Citigroup in London (European headquarters), initially as an associate doing extensive research on financial performance of US banks and big cap European banks and then, for four years, as Vice President in Citigroup’s Corporate Mergers & Acqusitions team for the EMEA region. He worked as Project Manager for various Citigroup acquisitions during 2006-2007 (including Egg Bank in the UK) and numerous Citigroup divestitures during 2008-2010 (including sales of retail banking businesses in Germany, the Nordics and Spain).

As part of his duties, Charis carried out extensive profiling and screening of potential acquisition targets in EMEA (both big and mid-cap banks) and analysed financials and key performance metrics of all major banks in various EMEA countries where Citigroup wanted to expand. Charis also has extensive retail banking experience having worked for the Bank of Cyprus in London (1997-1999) and the Cyprus Development Bank (2000-2002).

Charis has a B.A. in Economics from Cambridge University, an M.Phil. in Economics from Oxford University and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) with distinction from London Business School.

Lida Mardapitta-Hadjipanteli

Dr. Lida Mardapitta-Hadjipandeli is Managing Director of the boutique business consulting firm LMH Aktis Associates Ltd.
She is an experienced financial services professional, having worked for 26 years with The Cyprus Development Bank Group, the last 18 years holding key managerial positions in Management Consultancy, Equity Investments and Corporate Finance.
Since 2000 she is working on a regular basis as Independent Expert for the European Commission. Since 2003 she is acting as jury member and secretary of the organizing committee of the Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition.
She is serving as Member of the Board of Directors in a number of private companies, active in different sectors including financial services, the energy sector, and global retail services.
Dr. Mardapitta-Hadjipandeli has a First Class B.Sc. (Honours) and a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham, U.K. She is a Certified Investment Services professional (CN1735).
